Hidden Disc Holder
Some time ago, a PS5 appeared in our house, and since online game purchases are quite restricted now in my country - it turns out that buying physical discs in some cases is more profitable than making a purchase in the store.
Consequently, these discs needed to be stored somewhere. Putting them on a shelf is boring, and a quick search for solutions on Thingiverse led nowhere - everything was either shelves or full-sized huge boxes - quite bulky.
In recommendations, I occasionally saw invisible/hidden book shelves, something like this:
I thought - why not make something similar. Game disc cases have a suitable cutout on the edge, although very small (6mm), which in theory could allow the boxes to be mounted on the wall.
I quickly measured the boxes, sketched and 3D printed a model:
I planned to mount it with double-sided tape, but had doubts whether 6mm would be enough to hold the case and provide sufficient reliability, so I immediately sketched a wider version:
In practice, it turned out to be unnecessary - the 3M tape perfectly holds the 6mm mount for half a year now without the slightest hint of problems.
To hang it, it's easiest to first stick the tape to the mount, insert it into the disc case, and temporarily secure it with masking tape:
Then simply place it against the wall, slide the case slightly upward and remove it towards yourself.
It's better to hang adjacent mounts while the discs are hanging on them to ensure sufficient spacing without needing measurements.
Finally, hang all the discs and enjoy the minimalist interior:
The source files are published on Thingiverse, you can download and use them yourself.
